EFKON India has partnered with Airtel, one of the largest mobile network service providers in the country, for supply and installation of a “Video Analytics Solution” for Intelligent Enforcement Systems for Automation of Enforcement team of Motor Vehicles Department, in one of the southern states India named Kerala. Being system integrators in the field of ITS for over a decade now in India, EFKON’s scope in the project is the supply and installation of the hardware and the related software. Airtel will be providing the necessary connectivity. This is a first of its kind project being implemented in India and the success of this project will witness a sea of change in the Urban transportation sector in India.
The system consists of incident detection and management systems. Fifteen (15) junctions spread across three (3) major cities of Kerala will be covered under this project. The purpose of the system is to detect vehicles violating the traffic control signals (red light violation), over speeding vehicles and vehicles moving in the reverse direction. This detection is video based and each of these 15 junctions is equipped with fixed IP cameras for this purpose. The feed from the cameras are routed to the local control room of each city which has the detailed setup of the database server and application server. The video analytics application software generates incident detection trigger which is verified and booked at the control room side. The enforcement officer using this information validates and imposes fine to appropriate vehicle, based on the number plate detected. This information is further sent to backend application for enforcement. The individual city control rooms are then connected to the central Airtel database server which can pull data from the individual control room servers.
