INTERNATIONAL STANDARD - ISO CALM
The ISO CALM concept (Communication Access for Land Mobile) was introduced as part of the creation of a powerful, standardised solution and is integrated into our ASIC. ISO CALM supports multiple media, like 2nd and 3rd generation cellular systems, 5 GHz microwave and active infrared communications. ISO CALM is a family of International Standards sharing a common architecture, as well as common network protocols and air interface defi nitions for wireless communications.

Our INFRARED CALM ASIC uses infrared. Direct sunlight also includes infrared light, which is part of the sun’s radiant heat and is invisible to the human eye. Infrared is completely natural and therefore safe for all living beings. Infrared offers high rates of data transfer at low cost, small form factors and battery operation with low-power wakeup capability. SOPHISTICATED ENERGY SAVING
EFKON provides with it’s ASIC a highly integrated, low-power solution for electronic applications. The wakeup circuitry means a sleep mode with extremely low power consumption and a short wakeup time for the entire circuit meaning an excellent lifetime for battery powered devices. Typical applications for the wakeup function are in an automobile setting and consumer electronics like television sets. The sleeping device consumes no more than 0.1 mW and on receiving the wakeup signal, the ASIC powers the whole circuit within a few microseconds, helping to save a huge amount of energy.
