The vehicles are classified by the Efkon Laser Classification Sensor TOM 2000 according to their category when they pass the section entry.
Subsequently a camera system equipped with an infrared flash unit takes a picture of the license plate. At the same time the system records the time of entry and the date. The information gathered is then evaluated by an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. Exactly the same procedure is performed when the vehicles leave the system. Subsequently the system compares and evaluates the data of the entry section and of the exit section. The accumulated data is used to evaluate the precise average speed over the complete distance.
The entire installation is calibrated thus ensuring results that are certified correct and provide court-proof evidence.
