Two-thirds of all crashes in which people are killed or injured take place happen on roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or less. At 60km/h a driver is twice as likely to kill someone as they are at 50km/h.
- Hit by a car at 60km/h, 9 out of 10 pedestrians will be killed
- Hit by a car at 50km/h, around 50 per cent of pedestrians will survive
- Hit by a car at 30km/h, “only” 1 out of 10 pedestrians will be killed
At 25 per cent above the average speed, a driver is about six times more likely to have an accident than a driver traveling at the average speed. That is why EFKON is committed to safe traffic by all means. It is our belief that speed limits save lives if placed in a conscious way and if properly enforced.
EFKON provides the VELOCITRAC® system which is a modular solution allowing to add components and functionality to the audited and certified core system. The VELOCITRAC® is the first system to employ a line-radar which measures speed and triggers the camera at the same time. There are no additional triggers required and there are no installations in the road surface (“Non-Intrusive System”).
The enclosure of the equipment can be designed in many ways to make it appealing to the environment where the speed enforcement device is placed.
