The MACH-4 framework comprises the following modules which are displayed in the corresponding different colours as follows.
 Module “Smart Card Management”
Integrates services to manage visual (print) and electronic personalisation, application management (pre- or post issuance), security management (PINs & Keys), card delivery and card lifecycle management (expiry, blocking, replacement) for various smartcard types as MULTOS, JAVA or MIFARE for various card printers.
Single- and multiple applications can be realized on the same, single card like stored value pre-paid purses for fare collection, a credit and post-paid purse, a loyalty application for retailers or authentication services. The service is fully Web-enabled aiming at high performance, high security and scalability.
 Module “Payment”
That framework subsystem integrates financial management functions enabling smartcard based payment in post-payment and pre-payment mode (e-purse) both capable to run also in offline-mode. The system contains a loyalty engine managing bonus point collection- and redemption specifically for certain products. The import module allows high-performing transaction import-, collection and pre-processing up to millions of transactions per day. Clearing- and bill runs can flexible be defined in hourly- or daily cycles. The settlement module manages standard-based data exchange with external banking systems relying on international standards. Another integral part is the Web-enabled financial reporting and management information system MIS.
 Module “Customer Management”
Contains functions to manage all primary entities as customers and merchants enabling fully multi-application service. XML-based and open interfaces support the easy integration of external products for help desk management, asset management and customer service management.
 Module “IT Management (Grey)”
Integrates services and functions which are IT and infrastructure related like performance tuning, access control for the different service providers and services management.
Technology
From technological view MACH-4 is based on innovative and leading edge software technologies and modern modelling syntaxes while relying on open system philosophy. It embraces many innovative add-on features as card-to-card purse transfer, remote reload, fully offline operation, support of anonymous accounts, dynamic web enabled administration and smart card management following to the Global PlatformTM specifications. The modern architecture and open system concept promises easy customization and upgradeability.
Thus by licensing MACH-4 you rapidly can build single and multi-application payment services for road user charging, automated fare collection, petrol payment, parking, consumer and retailer services or banking.
